If time allows along the way, I'd love to hear what kinds of income streams you start building up. Replacing full-time work (even if I'm currently doing better than the norm, working 4x8s) is a dream of mine eventually.

@klardotsh step one: eliminate rent.
I saved for 3 years and bought a boat for $25,000 NZD which is around 15k usd.
Now I don't pay rent, electricity or water (we fill jugs from a municipal tap)
So my expenses are food, internet and transport (I still own a van).
That means I can work less to sustain the basics. The rest of money goes towards boat improvements and repairs.
