@yogthos G. tried to reform the empire, which was way behind the concurrence technical, but it was far to late by this point. But whould it be better not to try?

@benni Gorbachev destroyed a functional socialist state, and none of the reforms he did led to anything positive. Trying something negative is certainly worse than keeping the status quo.
