@amicalucis the screen showing the "email" in a fidonetstyle mailreader (GoldEd? Frontdoor?), with an adresse in "21:" prefix. That had been "Gernet", an overlay network of heise publishing company, Hannover, Germany.

I didn't even know that.
I know about fidonet, and I even registered there, but I didn't find anything good.

@amicalucis the hayday of fidonet was around 1989 to about 1996, from there everything went to Usenet and Web.
