Playing with Jonas' latest WIP mobile shell branch. It's honestly more fluid than my Android phone with Lineage, super impressive given the much weaker hardware ✨️

@tbernard only if my mobile would be supported :/ but isnt and never will be :/ only android :/ @hacknorris @tbernard Depending on the model, it may be possible to run Droidian (based on Halium so it uses part of the Android stack under the hood) @dannycolin waah. On my mobile even pmos build isnt finished. Where some droidian. Lmfao... @hacknorris you can ask the droidian folks. There are links on https://droidian.org/ to contact them. @dannycolin @lioh It's a WIP branch at this point, but I imagine someone will make testing images eventually. GNOME OS images would be cool 🙃 @tbernard I'm really hoping this gets eventually finished, in concept this is so much better than phosh. @racchio Jonas tried a bunch of distros, but he said they all kinda suck because of the bad hardware enablement situation (among other things). The OS in the video is Arch ARM with custom mutter/gnome-shell and some other tweaks. @tbernard@mastodon.social this looks crazy impressive, link to the fork? I honestly want to buy a Linux phone just for this Looks so cool! GNOME is taking the cake on mobile now however i won't switch to pure Linux based phone yet except it if goes to around 2% like desktop Linux now and has more apps. I'm also tired of Android's lagginess and want something like iOS but FOSS and on a cheaper phone and i think i found it! @tbernard that looks really good! Hopefully there'll be a way to hide the gesture bar at the bottom while retaining the ability to perform gestures though. 😅 It's one of my biggest gripes with Android right now, at least from a design perspective. @tbernard can't wait to try this, Gnome's applications screen is something I'm very much missing on Phosh. |
Which device is that, @tbernard?
