Chomsky explains what the US media and political class really mean when they talk about the "China threat": "They will not tolerate the existence of a state that cannot be intimidated and does not follow orders the way Europe does, but pursues its own course. That's the threat."

@yogthos for many years I held Chomsky's lack of response or action in response to the shac trial an act of moral cowardice. This was especially true given that Richard Stallman personally apologized to me for his own inaction and agreed with my analysis years later, though, unlike Chomsky, Stallman at least could legitimately say he was not deeply aware of the issues at the time. The biggest supporters of the shac defendants were the n wobblies, and that I was proud to see. @iwwnyc

@tychosoft @iwwnyc completely agree with that. I find Chomsky is willing to criticize capitalism, but never goes as far as to promote realistic solutions to the problem.

In my opinion, the main value of Chomsky is that he's palatable in the mainstream.

@yogthos @iwwnyc and that is precisely the problem; he clearly chose comfort over truth, more plays the part rather than actually living it.

@tychosoft @iwwnyc yup, he carries water for the empire, but acts as a if he is a radical

@yogthos @iwwnyc perhaps, if anything, I was once the very opposite, far more radical than I might seem, but there was a time I was simply trying to survive in this crazy and often criminal world without being noticed without being harmed by it.

@yogthos well, that's pretty consistent with gaming theory
