TL;DR: money lol
It tells me that they built their livelihood on a closed system and that they're not willing to gamble their business failing because of a random controversy or some purity test.
It is very costly to down tools and reskill everybody only to spend years porting your whole product to another platform, especially if you don't have a good indication that audience want your product enough you sustain a while company about it. Especially now that you are now pedaling a port of something that's now 18 months behind.
