I did this some years ago. I did want to use it as a homepage without any clue how to build one because I'm a backend developer.

Also I didn't had any clue how to maintain a Linux root server.

Long story short there was a non public website and a minecraft server running. On a Server which did had super limited hardware 😂

I set up named inbound access to my home network to help my wife or look up private data. SSH public/private key only, nonstandard port.

Now our lords of I.T. no longer allow outbound access to nonstandard "applications" (as if nobody uses nonstandard ports to reduce attack frequency)...

@nixCraft I have done something with every domain I bought, but not always something that was very useful.

But I don't treat domain names like Pokémon; I don't have to catch them all...

@nixCraft I never just park them, I always put something there, even if it’s nothing special. But this year I admitted that most of them can be just subdomains, so I’m letting most expire but my main two. I’m still getting anxious every time one expires 😅
