@JenniferJorgenson Niche image, but likely false: The Yosemite Firefall is created because the sun shines on it from the side. Thus the moon cannot be illuminated from the front.

yeah. That looks like Yosemite falls, viewed from about where Yosemite Lodge is, so the view would be facing approximately north/northwest.

For everyone. The Yosemite Firefall was a man made event where they started a fire at the top and pushed the embers off. This form of entertainment went on for nearly 100 years and was stopped in the late 1960s. Due to the amount of people and the opposite of preserving the natural land.
The natural Firefall was then 'discovered' at a different waterfall location. It's from the setting sun. And, of course, now this is doing the same thing.
