First social network was mailing lists. Everything after that was just better graphics.
@45c3IF85N @GossiTheDog My biggest culture shock in college, moving from a gawdaful card-punching Univac to a DECSYSTEM-20, with real terminals, wasn't the wonderful EXEC environment, or Emacs (in TECO, that was trippy), but that there were mailing lists you could sign up for through a nice interface. I wasted, er, spent, a lot of my time in the computer lab reading mailing lists. Oh, and playing Adventure too.
Sadly my first real computer job after college was on a... virtually-card-punching IBM MVS system. Culture shock again.
