@iotar @NanoRaptor How timely. I was looking at pictures of cassette and CD players to see if there was a convention for button order. I’m making a music player with Play/Pause, Stop, Previous, and Next buttons, and I’m undecided between:

1. Prev, Play, Stop, Next
2. Play, Stop, Prev, Next
3. Play, Prev, Next, Stop

#3 seems rational to me:
▶️⏪⏩⏹️

Although using rewind and ffwd as brackets (#1) works visually for me too.

@oscherler can i suggest a 4th option? prev, play, next, stop. i'm more used to cd and digital music players, so take that as you will.

@industrial_cream Technically mine is a digital music player. The look is just cassette-inspired. So thanks.

@oscherler that sounds awesome!! i started getting really into music just as cassettes were being phased out in the early 2000s, but i've always liked how the players look. no worries!

@industrial_cream I’m making an MP3 player for my daughters, that plays music from an SD card, but you choose the playlist by inserting a “cassette” that has an RFID tag. This way, the small one doesn’t need to be able to read to choose her music.

@oscherler that sounds even better (pun unintended) than what i was imagining! i read about this guy who did something similar for his kids, but with videos and an apple tv. he was inspired by vhs tapes and players.

yours emulates the original device (a cassette player) way better imo.
