@uep suggested someone should swap the `n` and `ope` in this picture ... I happily oblige!

@pavsmith well, there's a couple things I do that require specific features… or at least work differently depending on what OS I'm using sure… I can substitute a proper OS and it's tools with WSL, git-bash (or cygwin) and similar. And I could play windows games using proton and whatever. but as soon as I start to see mountpoints or get annoyed by windows' crappy window manager, it's still kinda obvious? @drazraeltod i spend 90%+ of my time in a browser and so sitting here on a chromebook my experience is more or less identical. if i had to use it as a workstation... ugh! i'd be back on some kind of UN*X derivative asap. plus i have muscle memory for vi, and only use the keyboard commands! arrow keys were for those mainframe types! @heinz@mastodon.social @uep@octodon.social I suggest a new company motto: "Microsoft: Computer says no" ™️ |
@heinz @uep it's a funny thing. i use windoze, but i have no real idea it is there (apart from when it demands patching!!!!!!!!!!). does anyone actually use a desktop OS for anything these days? honestly it could be running on anything. having been a UN*X user since the mid-80's i've always been a windoze desktop user because it simply kinda works for all the dull stuff i do. on a chromebook right now, i can't readily see the difference between this and windoze. i'll end with "as it should be".
