Seriously. The first thing you see when you google David Tennant is a borked AI generated picture of *not* David Tennant.

The way Google whiffed on AI while making their flagship product increasingly shit in their attempt to catch up is astounding.

A screenshot of Google search results for “David Tennant.” The first image displayed is an AI-generated portrait of someone who resembles David Tennant but is not him. The other two images are authentic pictures of David Tennant.

@BProwboat @Daojoan It’s not exactly Google but it still suffers from Googlopolyitis

@Daojoan @risottobias I really want to see some of these people sue for likeness rights.

@Daojoan What's truly bizarre is that if you go to the article that is the supposed source... it has a different image (which also looks weird and probably AI-generated based on a real photo).

@eliocamp @Daojoan this could be because some sites allow You to have a different miniatura picture, like a video thumbnail, for when You insert the link in another page. Still shitty use of AI

@Daojoan@mastodon.social I swear to god there has never been a better time to supplant google as the search giant king, and there are a thousand angry programmers trying to make a better search engine as we speak, I've never seen a better set of circumstances to launch competing products against google before lol

There's a reason why Google accepted investment from MBS.

AI is for surveillance, #enshittification, election interference, disinformation, malign influence campaigns thwarting a fossil fuel phase-out, frauds & scams, and ramping up distrust in information.

"Freedom loving" Republican billionaires sure do like the features of fossil fuel funded fascism.
