@gamingonlinux i wish valve would make a product similar to Razer Kishi or Backbone. An official controller to go with steam link, and competitively priced, the 'good controllers' this space are insanely pricey.

@gamingonlinux I really loved the original steam controller even though it wasn't the most comfortable experience in some games.

Underside buttons, gyro, remapping - I feel like I can't use a controller without them now.

@gamingonlinux Interested in seeing what comes up. Cheap plastic really let the original one down and as much as I appreciate the ideas of the controller the lack of an actual d-pad was just too much. Have a couple and ended up barely using them

BUT I did set it up to play FTL at one point and that was pretty friggin nice =3

@gamingonlinux Oooh, that might be interesting. My PS5 controller has "issues" with battery life/charging and desktop mode.

@gamingonlinux it would be nice if we spin out our own steam machine, which will remove the need of having a console (in my case) as I don't want to invest on another console while most of my games are on steam. At the same time, as steam has changed ownership terms, it is just licensing the game, I've worries about it, still I can get my games from GoG, and can then play it on steam.

@gamingonlinux I got the original in the fire sale they did back in '19. I do like it, but since getting the Deck it's clear it was really missing a proper d-pad.

I just got an 8bitdo ultimate but if the new SC basically has the deck controls I'll jump at it.

@gamingonlinux A new steam controller is really exciting. I adore my original but live in fear that it'll give up one of these days.

@gamingonlinux I think the reason for making a new Steam Controller is
(a) Gabe thinks it's cool
(b) console controllers used to be locked to only work on their own console. That could very well come around again.
(c) Xbox controllers being "the lowest common denominator standard" is kinda boring. Games haven't been adopting gyro input or touchpads or much of anything else.

@gamingonlinux I hope it's very close to the steam deck way out, so it be better for Muscle memory going from steam deck to controller.

@gamingonlinux Pretty cool if these elite type controllers are your thing. I prefer more simple controllers like the XBox One and the new Steam controllers from Hori.

KingdomBalance

@gamingonlinux I have to agree with the need for two analogs and at least one d pad in addition to the touch pads. I have the first one and I love it. But some games are unplayable with a touch pad “look” system. -Lily&

@gamingonlinux YESSSS FINALLY! A new Steam Controller that’s not that cheap feeling Hori controller!

@gamingonlinux to tink that I was so stupid to sell for pennies this one and the Steam Link, back in 2017, and that I had to buy it again last year to pair it with my Steam Deck… I think I won’t miss the new model when it will be out!

@gamingonlinux Loving that they're preparing another Steam Controller. I've only recently been taking advantage of how customizable the original is.
