@jwildeboer unsurprisingly some projects still follow such models.
Even recent ones.
e.g. Got (Game of Trees).
Has a source code repository (and mirrors): https://gameoftrees.org/code.html
A web page with documentation (https://gameoftrees.org/manual.html), an FAQ (https://gameoftrees.org/faq.html) and links to downloads (https://gameoftrees.org/portable.html)
A mailing list: https://lists.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr?user=&passw=&func=lists-long-full&extra=gameoftrees
An IRC channel: ircs://irc.libera.chat:6697/gameoftrees
Heck even Matrix (have not tried this myself): https://matrix.to/#/#gameoftrees:matrix.org
There are also efforts underway to provide a Game of Trees Hub: https://bsd.network/@stsp/112649217544286913
Admittedly, maybe it isn't too surprising to see such practices in place from a project with OpenBSD developer affiliations? Got is relatively new but it hasn't thrown out the baby with the bathwater as far as maintaining open development methodologies which have been in place for decades because they have been demonstrably viable.
Even if I might side eye the Matrix stuff personally at least they're trying new stuff too? ;)
