Elsevier retracts two papers over missing software licenses. Better no one tell Adobe, otherwise a large parts of current academic literature will disappear.

On the other hand, most of the folks fraudulently manipulating their images probably also run pirates Photoshop copies.

Also: if anyone else needed arguments why science needs to be based in free software, there it is.

@gedankenstuecke certainly not the first time copyright has been wielded in this way, to get otherwise valid-papers retracted, fwiw.

@rmounce @gedankenstuecke fascinating. if this is going to be a thing regarding data where copyright is not properly applied, then we can retract half of all literature

@rmounce yeah, I remember the psych survey instruments, but I think I haven’t seen any software specific case so far?
