@mike805@noc.social @catsalad@hackers.town, because you need to replace them, every second month. @catsalad Wait, isn’t this a screenshot of this funny „ZFS on USB sticks“ video back from 2012? EDIT: 2011 🫠 @catsalad Scary thing is I spent several years in the early 2000s working on a Sun NAS: about 8ft tall, 3ft deep and 12ft long and stored a massive 3Tb...Which is what that zip tied USB monstrosity probably can handle in the size of the SCSI connectors that had to be used. @rbairwell @catsalad @catsalad perhaps a few details - I keep thinking about building a cluster from old cell phones & memory sticks, wondering what it is that you've assembled there - hardware, software, etc! @tehstu IIRC that model had the sound of a Ferrari engine revving as the BIOS power up sound. Very classy. @catsalad coming soon on Linus Tech Tips "I built a 2 PB production server from USB sticks, some string, and cello tape" This is so cursed It’s a little spooky to think you can buy computer on a chip something like a raspberry pi was more power than the old sun works stations, or rack mounted units @catsalad way faster, more reliable, energy saving and of higher capacity than the 3,5" #Floppy #RAID that @ActionRetro once did. |
@catsalad paired with the Ferrari laptop😂
