@timsev @davatron5000 i learned a new word from this: petrichor "a distinctive, earthy, usually pleasant odor that is associated with rainfall especially when following a warm, dry period and that arises from a combination of volatile plant oils and geosmin released from the soil into the air and by ozone carried by downdrafts" (-Miriam Webster)
I didn't realize there was a word for that, or even that it was seen as universally pleasant. I knew that I like the smell after rain, find it soothing in a way, but didn't necessarily expect anyone else cared for it in the same way.
