@sjolsen This is the way tumblr works, and i used to use masto like this until i was told I should boost a lot less often, so im torn now It seems that boosting etiquette has shifted just in the year I've been here. I showed up in the big wave of ex redditors and when I first got here it was "Boost a lot! Like doesn't really do anything." No longer. @eestileib @maelstrom071 @sjolsen I guess the news never made it to me, I still boost to like and favorite to bookmark. I don’t think I’ll be changing my habits anytime soon. @iiogama @eestileib @sjolsen That's good! Rules about bios, rules about following, about following BACK, about liking or boosting or what have you. I like/found interesting/found valuable/wanted more publicity? I boost. I want to save? I star. I want to read later (read: forget and feel guilty about)? I bookmark. I just like to wander around and read and talk to people and make them laugh. Y’know; be social, read media.  @eestileib @maelstrom071 @sjolsen Boosting is how fedi works.. without it everyone wold have empty timelines. Like is a dopamine rush. It's good for the sender but not the same. Dont let people tell you what to do (except me right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣). I boost liberally.  I just deleted lots of agreeable bleugh, because [text not deleted follows] Anyhoo, what do I know? Boost/⭐/reply, or not, as you will. 😎  @maelstrom071 @sjolsen to me boosting is simply "I would share this in a group chat with like-minded friends". The question is "would others be interested?".    |
