I am in a stunned state of shock that it worked.
I was ready to abandon Mastodon. What a fuck up of an upgrade.
Can some folks let me know if they see this message as an additional test to see if the changes took.

I consider myself fairly Linux/geek conversant, but the docs were decidely lacking in guidance on Ruby and Node upgrades, other than to say they were necessary. So it was a process of going through steps, geenerating errors, chasing down the errors, etc etc. Just not terribly friendly. @jimcarroll To be fair, the rest of my week is *also* filled with undocumented Node and Ruby platform updates, so maybe it just blended in with the rest of the noise @vees Mine involved going out and talking to a large group of hungover people (that's what i do as a keynote speaker with a morning talk), navigating airports, walking a large room of 70+ executives through AI, and a 2 hour conference call with the PMO office of the UAE for an upcoming event talking about content. So maybe going through a hair raising upgrade process to end my week sort of stood out! @jimcarroll Yes, it obviously worked out. I did upgrade to v4.3 today, too. It was not bad at all. Worth it! Yeppp π I'd turn the hover link stuff off. It's annoying and just gets in the way is my suggestion post upgrade. @jimcarroll I also found this upgrade to be a pretty awful experience, and I'd say I've got intermediate skills in Linux. Good luck to a beginner trying to get into self hosting this app π |
