@lashman can’t wait for profiles to look like neopets pages!

@leroy @lashman Honestly wouldn't mind that.... just not for money, love custom CSS profiles.

Pump up the volume ! 😁
🎢 They say the next big thing is here
That the revolution's near
But to me it seems quite clear
That it's all just a little bit of history repeating 🎢

@lashman It was never a question of IF...only WHEN.πŸ™„

@lashman @fulanigirl I love the promises of what they won’t do. That’s our look ahead to what they’ll be doing in 5-10 years, if they last that long.

This definitely doesn't assuage any fedi skeptics about the blueapp or ATProto

Best of luck to them but we've rarely seen VC injected projects end well for us....

@lashman i mean kudos to paul and friends for total message discipline and refusing to reference this eventuality even when asked point blank 10,000 times

@lashman I think PDS servers should be allowed to configure this kind of stuff (as well as things like character limits) for themselves tbh. It would for certain promote healthier competition in the AT protocol realms.

@lashman It's a full copy of Twitter, of course its gonna end up like it..

@lashman There always has to be a "first class".πŸ™„

I'm not a fan of bluesky - I think that the main social media shouldn't be owned by a single company, since that gives them too much power.

But subscriptions aren't always a bad thing, especially when it doesn't restrict necessary features. Running servers costs lots of money, so its understandable that when something becomes bigger to have some kind of subscription.

Let's instead focus on the actual things that we shouldn't be okay with, like A SINGLE COMPANY OWNING THE CENTRE FOR FREE SPEECH BEING A BAD IDEA, WE LITERALLY JUST SAW WHAT HAPPENED WITH TWITTER IF YOU HAVE A SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE-

@lashman … and THAT’S where blockchain comes in handy!

(to make a service substancially worse inmediatelly)

Cogito ergo mecagoendios

@lashman now it's just a matter of time before someone makes an alternate frontend with all those things for free, so they announce they are removing third party federation

nLupo

@lashman ... and that's how enshitification starts. The real freedom is a community governed instance.

Gabbo the wafrn guy :neocat_floof_devil_256: (not a vampire)

@lashman higher quality videos that you see for what ive seen. "yeah so you pay bandwith so here is a bit extra".

And the silly colors and stuff, a monetization strategy I have for fedi is making donors get silly hats on the instance. Wich makes sense.

I am saying this as the devil's advocate, I have conflicting feelings on bsky.

@lashman "We won't uprank paid accounts"... for now.

@lashman i wonder how will this work with decentralisation? if we assume that they dont cancel federation, surely you could just send a signal to show an account with the funky decorations (like federated misskey decorations but if on only one misskey instance they required you to be a subscriber to enable them)

Natsura :transfem_verify:

@lashman@mastodon.social and normies will complain that Mastodon sucks :neocat_glare:

It's fine with me if those people want to throw their money into a fucking fire that is known as corporate social media.
