Hey #fediverse,

I'm writing a deep dive for @theinternet all about #VivaldiBrowser. Any suggestions of what to include or questions about it? It seems to be getting a lot of buzz these days, especially with the slow decline into irrelevance for Firefox.

@jaredwhite oh, exciting!

I would definitely mention that it's based on Blink, so it is affected by and subject to Google's decisions regarding how the Web should evolve.

Good luck on your piece, looking forward to reading it!

@jaredwhite @theinternet check out he latest snapshot (something like a beta release) which includes the new dashboard feature. They have also said that something is going to happen on Oct 24th so maybe you want to wait for that...?

Reasons to like @Vivaldi:
They just did a poll on that!

Edit: they included the new dashboard feature, not the new snapshot feature

@jaredwhite @theinternet Closed source Chromium skin that helps the monopolist entrench control over the web.

Oh, and it's ad blocker isn't as good as uBlock Origin. I guess start there?

Things that make it stand out for me:
• Incredible amount of customization is possible
• Built-in ad and tracker blocking
• Translates selected text or entire websites with one click
• Built-in RSS feed, calendar, and email (which even lets me display mail as plain text)

@jaredwhite @theinternet It's the batteries-included-browser:
- ad-blocker
- **ultimate** tab-management
- detects rss-feeds
- feedreader
- if you want it remembers your last session
- workspaces
- profiles
- notes

Add a tab rotator plugin and it replaces a "digital signage solution".

@jaredwhite @theinternet Interesting. I still don't think RSS feeds can be organized into folders, and when I last tried it, it had limited Contacts / Address Book import / export from more common formats like vCard. I was hoping to import the Contacts from my Android phone, but it wasn't possible - it more or less keeps track of email addresses in sent and received messages. Also, I'm not sure if Vivaldi's Tasks feature handles recurring tasks & task completion as well as Outlook & Thunderbird.
