Greta is the voice of a generation and Israel’s attack on her with willing media partners is abhorrent.

@LALegault This would be way more impactful if the MSM outlets were the same on both sides of the line.

Chopper Dave

@MatthewKay @LALegault sir, this is the internet. Your demand for rational evidence is getting in the way of good rage bait.

@MatthewKay @LALegault

If you do want to see a liberal paper change their tune, just compare The Guardian now saying "tax the rich" vs when the Labour party had a leader that actually wanted to do that.

benx

@LALegault @MatthewKay

The Guardian went from attacking Corbyn to pretending to actually care about shit overnight. It was astounding.

Badri
@benx wait can you tell me more about that? I don't follow UK politics very closely but my family does read The Guardian for international news (evidently not enough to notice the change in tune)

@LALegault The fall of Greta began when She made the connection between capitalism and climate crisis , She disappeared from almost every media, now that criticizes Israel She's going to be attacked and buried deep.

Ç'thûłhů Rants! 🇺🇦

@LALegault
As all True Americans[tm] know, opposing Israel's genocide in Gaza is Woke and therefore Evil. What Real Person objects to killing Muslims!

@LALegault
She will be on the right side of history though

@LALegault Ah, now you see the daggers pointed at the young lady.
I've seen them from the beginning, in the articles that condemned even her climate and environmental activism. If you have the stomach for it, read them...and these new articles as well. Behold the world me and her and all like us must face.

You see, she has broken the unspoken rule that prevails gor autistics whether in the US or Sweden: any benevolence and accomodation our ilk, our people I daresay, receive is conditioned on us being depoliticized, though they are oh so gracious as to allow us the vote. But we are never to publicly opine on public affairs or take any strong stance on them. And we are never to organize into groups that push for our interests.

They're not just going after her for being a woman. They're heaping calumny on what they perceive as an ungrateful ward. After all, has not Sweden let her live after her speech delay? Gave her all the early interventions she needed in speech and occupational therapy? Educated her in the same way as her peers? And, what's this, she dares to lecture us, her betters? Ungrateful wretch!

That is the world autistics and all who mad, intellectually disabled, neurodivergent, etc face. And it's only the icebergs tip. Peer beneath the waves and you find a cruel ocean.

@FinalOverdrive

Now I see? What? We don’t even know each other? Pretty sure I was yelling at everyone in Alberta when they launched attacks at her about her climate advocacy, years ago.

FinalOverdrive

@LALegault I was only explaining the nature of these attacks. Nothing more.

@LALegault I presume you are not autistic, so I thought you should know and fully appreciate just what is at stake here.

I don't appreciate being lectured by an allistic about what is important.

LA Legault

@FinalOverdrive

Are you kidding me
You began by lecturing me and telling me I did not know something and you did. Re read what you wrote. It is insulting. It is an assumption that you know something that I don’t without knowing anything about me.

I have been in Greta’s corner since the moment she first spoke. I am well aware of what is at stake and she should be protected at all costs.

Saying you are are autistic as an excuse to be rude and take a patriarchal approach isn’t going to fly

@LALegault I agree that she's the voice of a generation but this graphic makes no sense unless you have the same publications on both sides of the line. As it stands this is more about the publications and not about her.

LA Legault

@lmc

You are free to make your own graphic there are dozens of examples.

Michel Recondo :sdf: :openbsd:

@LALegault been attacked is usually a sign that you are on the right track

@mrecondo @LALegault It's a valid trend that if corporate media is just plowing into someone with obvious hatred, they're generally someone worth listening to. Generally.

I think some of what went wrong in 2016 may have been that the DNC-aligned corporate media kept slathering on their personal contempt for Trump, getting many people thinking he might deserve to be listened to. He made mouth noises about genuine populist issues (then forgot about them once elected), and the rest is history. 😔🤢

LA Legault

@MySideIsHumanity @mrecondo

They’re doing it all over again with this election. She is not running for anything, she is running against Trump.

Dustin D. Wind

@LALegault @mrecondo The DNC just won't stop reminding me of this Peanuts cartoon…

Paria sans portefeuille

@LALegault

And the hit piece in Spiked is by - wait for it - Brendan O'Neill. LOL. The soi-disant "marxist" who used to write for "Living Marxism", along with that other fake left 🤡 @ Spiked, Mick Hume. At least most of the other ppl piling on her don't purport to be on the left. smh

If the Spiked gang aren't the personifications of the expression "poachers turned gamekeepers" I don't know who is. Reminds me Hitchens' lame attacks on the left over Iraq. (Another poacher-turned-gamekeeper)

@PariaSansPortefeuille @LALegault Ar a laghad bhí sé de bhéasaí ag Hitchens bás a fháil.

@LALegault yeah, you're not allowed to attack genocidal regimes.

Fuck Israel.

aldonogueira

@LALegault between the two moments she criticised capitalism as well

Samuel

@LALegault @hypebot I think Greta, unfortunately, did take an unjust position against Israel. I am not saying Netanyahu is the good one, in contrary.

LA Legault

@samueljohn @hypebot

Unjust? According to who? Because according to the ICJ and 15 international justices she is very much of the right opinion.

Samuel

@LALegault @hypebot It is too easy to say Israel is the only evil one here. I personally think Hamas is much more the evil player and intentionally endangered the poor people of Gaza. Now fingerpointing to Israel is not fair.
I am deeply saddened for the people in Gaza. And I am sad that my idol Greta took the wrong turn.

LA Legault

@samueljohn @hypebot

It’s a good day to dig deeper and realize genocide is never okay.

The Bulwark

@LALegault its what they always do, whenever their criminality is called out, along with the good old antisemite card just to stick the knife in for good measure.

Tim the progressive Autist

@LALegault
All major German Climate Activist Groups have basically cut contact with her, since cooperation with groups opposed to the existence of Israel might enable antisemitic narratives.
Fridays for Future Germany basically declared itself independent from Greta over this.
It is possible (and necessary) to advocate for an armistice, more humanitarian aid and compliance with international law while strictly avoiding groups which glorify Oktober 7th or which reject the existence of Israel.

LA Legault

@timneurodiv

Germans are not the ones I am looking to for guidance on this one.

Jason Robinson 🐍🍻

@lalegault@newsie.social I somehow doubt she cares.

But yeah, fuck Israel and western states supporting the terror done by that state.

slash

@LALegault I read James Bamford's latest book, Spyfail, which claims to be about the decline of our IC's capability and expertise.

Instead, it's a catalog of Israeli espionage operations, against the USA, run from inside the USA. And in many cases, with the government knowing about it, and choosing not to do anything about it.

Be clear; these are operations intended to degrade our national security, and change our foreign policy in favor of Israel.

Realpolitik at work.
