@reillypascal totally agree. Have been using kodi since the XBMC days on a chipped original xbox. My TV has smart features but has never been connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet & all are disabled in menus. We do have an Apple TV 4k for our streaming requirements, but this sits firmly behind pihole & allows us to power up & stream if we must. A much better choice than the plethora of streaming platforms, terrible UI's and underpowered hardware. |
@reillypascal When we upgraded our TV four years ago I successfully found one of the last of Panasonic's FirefoxOS boxes; my research showed them to be considerably safer than the Android and custom OS options that are now prevalent.
When that reaches end of life? I don't know. Hopefully there's a suitably sized monitor I can drive with a Raspberry Pi or similar.
