Homelessness should be illegal, but for the state, not the Homeless. If your State is run so poorly that you have a significant number of Homeless, then you are committing a crime against the people that live there. You've let rent get higher than wages, you aren't adequately funding mental and physical Healthcare, you're under providing Unemployment benefits and Disability, you're not regulating unnecessary layoffs.

Are there going to be a few people who still choose Homelessness, maybe, but these are problems with solutions 99% of the time.

@RickiTarr Minimum wage in NH is $7.25/hour and they wonder why Manchester has a huge tent community in the middle of downtown.

Also providing help and space for getting clean, it's nearly impossible to kick the habit you use to escape your reality when the reality will never get better.

@RickiTarr and just basic amenities that housed people take for granted, like access to showers, toilets, clean clothes, meals (obviously)… this is where our taxes should be going, IMO.

If we're not organized as a society to help all of our people, what are we even doing? 🤷🏽🤬

@arisummerland YES! Getting and keeping a job is very difficult when you don't have a shower and a place to wash clothes

@RickiTarr @arisummerland One of our libraries has free showers every Friday.

@RickiTarr EXACTLY. And also when you don't know if the city is going to come bulldoze your stuff...

Nazani

@RickiTarr There are also midwestern towns that put their homeless on buses to CA.

@RickiTarr this is what I've been saying!! I haven't heard a single politician say this though

@MikeImBack @RickiTarr
Politicians will usually engage with frameworks that leave them blameless. They will pass a new law instead of enforcing an existing one, or blame businesses for acting badly when they were not being regulated.

@RickiTarr literally four abandoned homes within quarter mile of my hood, where houses go for $500-750K. Disgusting

@RickiTarr Homelessness is the crown jewels of #conservative policy. It's more sacred than unaffordable healthcare. It's the focal point of how the 1 wage war on the 999.

Easiest way to compell the middle 80% of people into trampling each other like a pack of locusts is to keep 10% of the people locked into homelessness.

EmeraldNova

@RickiTarr this is literally the best description around this problem I've seen. Very well said.

@RickiTarr

And busing homeless people from your state to another should be illegal.

@RickiTarr yes. This articulates a feeling I've held but never managed to turn into words.
