Japan does have 200V outlets (particularly for larger appliances and airco) but like USA they are of very different appearance to the 100V outlets

@cinebox@cybre.space Yeah, US plugs are oriented. With e.g. European plugs this actually can work, as an outlet may actually have upper and lower from different circuits AND neutral on different sides. However usually they are not wired like that, and I am not sure if code allows that anywhere.

However it then likely won't have twice but just 1.7x the voltage due to three phases... ;)
