@Indyposterboy @Daojoan @violetmadder @FrenchPanda Could they not just…give her the house? @HeavenlyPossum @Indyposterboy @Daojoan @violetmadder @FrenchPanda psh, not in deez here states of america, you damn commie. @benda @HeavenlyPossum @Indyposterboy @Daojoan @FrenchPanda Right, right what was I thinking. (BTW it's good to see you yayy!) @violetmadder @HeavenlyPossum @Indyposterboy @Daojoan @FrenchPanda aww good to see you too!! 🤗 I can't imagine pulling the property ladder up behind me if I somehow ended up in legal possession of two houses. I'd use it to give a leg up to someone who can't manage the financing on their own the opportunity to rent-to-own. Surely the vast majority of people have someone in their family or immediate circle of friends who could benefit from help. It's not like you'd have to look far afield.
I don't know if you purposefully looked for the worst possible version of that scenario, but you know that your sister could simply own this house she lives in, right? Why did you pick the worst case scenario, when there are like 20 more realistic and positive ones? @FrenchPanda @Indyposterboy @Daojoan Maybe their siblings are collossal jerks who would immediately kick the sister out at the slightest excuse? The more the reason to not give them that power over said sister imo. Give the sister that house. @violetmadder @Daojoan @FrenchPanda @Indyposterboy Unless your siblings are subsidizing her, she already can “afford” that house because her rent presumably already covers its capital costs and maintenance. |
@FrenchPanda @violetmadder @Daojoan Because the OP stated “No one should be allowed to own a residence where they do not actually reside.” In which case my sister, occupying a house owned by her siblings (but which they’d not be permitted to own under this ‘rule’) would have to move out as she is unable to afford that house herself.
