@onlmaps It was my understanding that Japan, while not colonized, was quite influenced or at least occupied by the Portuguese, although I could be wrong.

@onlmaps Japan and Korea should be light blue. Most of the russia dark blue.

@onlmaps Using "countries" (nation-states) as a unit of measure here is already a concession to european colonization. Who drew the borders?

@onlmaps If instead of "colonized by Europe", it was "colonized by Western countries (including Europe and the USA)", there would not be any country colored in orange left on the map... and most of European countries, if not all, would be colored in dark green.
