@j12t paywalled. But I don’t think we’ll end extraction by ending demand, I think we’ll have to ban extraction, import, and export, with penalties that selling oil can’t pay for. And I dread finding out what it takes to convince legislators to do that 2 comments
@j12t I’ve never seen any indication that any legislator would go anywhere near banning fossil fuels. Most people just need to get things done and don’t care that much if they have a furnace or a heat pump, so long as they can stay warm; the problem for them is the transition, which the legislators would have to pay for, which I’ve also never seen any indication they would be willing to. The complainers are loud but few, and not involved in extraction just burning |
