This is the triumph of *part* of the current generation. Astronomers don't see these trails as a triumph. Climate experts don't see these metals sent above high atmosphere as a triumph. I guess Masaï don't care.

@coq @APoD That's true. I can see why "giant chunks of metal orbiting the planet at potentially alarming speeds" might not fly (heh) well with everyone.

These bright lights from starlink satellites is also causing a lot of trouble for astronomers because it regularly interfere with ground-based observations - mastodon.online/@dpthorngren/1
