Photos in iOS 18b6 has improved to ‘unpleasant, but tolerable’, at least once you turn off basically everything. I don't like the scrolling main screen, and I don't like that albums dismiss on scroll, but you can turn off enough of it now to make it work

@stroughtonsmith The redesign of the photos app is the absolute best feature in my opinion and I have actually taken the time to go through albums and organize/delete my photos content.

I don't get the desire to cram everything in one screen....

Why not have a customizable tab bar that has the same options as in the picture by @stroughtonsmith ?

The fact that everything is in one view just makes it harder to jump to different things IMO.

@stroughtonsmith Having gone thru and organized everything as much as possible, including editing the list of things under the sections (where you can!), it’s just as good as it’s going to get right now. I’ve seen so much backlash over the whole “You just fear change!” Thing, I’ve about given up on this fight.

@stroughtonsmith Fingers crossed that at some point they’ll turn the tiny toolbar search button into a full-size text field in the middle of the screen, between the library and collections

@stroughtonsmith are the section names in the list bold by default or is that your accessibility settings?

Steve Troughton-Smith

@kerberjg that's default. I don't have any accessibility options on

@stroughtonsmith alright, thanks. I asked because that font weight looks really off.

It kinda feels to me like Apple have run themselves into a corner by trying to push out a major OS release every year and have compromised on the overall quality quite a bit :(
