Back in, call it 1985 or so a friend of mine who called himself Digital (because he wore like 10 digital watches at a time) joined up with a guy who was also a Blues Brothers fan. They dressed the parts for at least five years after that, suits, hats, glasses and a briefcase with a harmonica in it handcuffed to Digital's wrist everywhere they went.

Digital was/is a virtuoso, he could master an instrument in days rather than years and he MASTERED that harmonica. He showed up at a John Lee Hooker show in the 80's at the old 9:30 in DC dressed for success and he started playing harp in the audience. JLH saw him and called him up on stage where he (maybe 19 years old) played most of the set with his band.

Dude founded The Checkered Cabs and Eastern Standard Time, both reasonably iconic east coast Ska bands and he still dressed as Jake back in the 90's!

Thanks for sending me down that memory hole! It was a fun ride!
