I thought it's Grab attempting to collect fresh street level imagery with their own gear across my humble city (Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia).

Actually... it's Apple's own fleet (yes I saw like two of them!). And I probably likely, ended up in their photo stream. No photos because I'm on a moped and it was all of a sudden.

Their white Subaru cars (unknown model) has their project details slapped on the doors (in the Malay language).

Any ideas about their licensing? I couldn't find anything explicit in their site, so I'm assuming it's not compatible for use with @openstreetmap

No permission granted I'm afraid too. If only Apple themselves gave explicit permission though... (yeah I'm dreaming again 😣 )

later edit: this is Apple we're talking - it's either go hard (yes, Apple helped contributing data to OSM, but in a discreet way) or go home (nuh uh, sorry, nada at the moment)

🙄 I'd like to think that maybe their own ADT editors can use it to improve @osm 🤞

Yeah, that's a possibility. For sure, Apple did spend money purchasing access to freshest Maxar imagery, just for updating OpenStreetMap, but for their internal mapping department only - Apple Data Team - (Maybe hired people from Kaart? TomTom? Who knows).

Here's hoping someone from Apple Data Team would take this exact idea from your toot.
