@ClutchAbuse @ninawillburger Doch weh! die Flamme fasst das Kleid, Und Minz und Maunz, die schreien A colour image as if from an old children's book. A young woman in a red dress with a blue apron, her hair in two braids down her back, is on fire. On either side of her are two grey cats with black stripes, raising both front paws up in alarm. Caption: My life is a fairy tale @herzleid @ninawillburger It's not even "as if from an old children's book", it's actually taken from Der Struwwelpeter. @dentaku Sure, whatever? It's a volunteer image description, not a dissertation on German folk tales. But a good illustration of why it's so much better when the person posting the image writes the alt text, since they have the full context. @herzleid @ninawillburger Maybe they also don't know. I just thought it might be interesting that it's not just a meme pic but an actual children's book (that I also had in my childhood). @dentaku Just frustrating that no matter what you post on the internet, some dude will come along to point out that it wasn't perfect. 🤷 But we probably experience online social spaces very differently for a lot of reasons, and I'm currently a bit prickly for reasons not related to you, so let's just leave it at that. Thank you for the added context. 🌼 @ninawillburger I don't know what you are on about. I read this as a kid and I turned out fine. :ablobcatwave: I was the 4yo who could recite the story of Paulinchen by heart. And the one with the thumb-sucking boy. @ninawillburger This is awesome, and immediately makes me think of the tales @juergen_hubert has been translating. @ninawillburger As a German, I can confirm that this was my childhood, my youth and my adult life. |
