I see a lot of posts like this, but never with links. Would you be so kind as to share any links (or other sources) to reliable info for newbies?

@cephie Great idea. Depends a lot on what you're trying to host.

My intention is to make videos and blog posts about this topic soon- I've been focusing on getting around the Linux terminal in recent materials but I'm hoping to spread out a bit soon.

I'd also like to host a section on my website about it but haven't done so yet.

In the meantime, Awesome Selfhosted comes to mind as a good place to branch off, if not a bit verbose. awesome-selfhosted.net/

@vkc @cephie The subreddit /r/selfhosted is also a good resource and a lot of devs hang around promoting and troubleshooting.

@orbitalmayo @eschguy Oh, the absolute irony respectfully with Reddit in this context:

We need to become independent *very* fast, to still be able to teach!

@jesterchen @eschguy that's a fair point, Reddit probably isn't the best source on a thread like this.

@orbitalmayo @eschguy Well... right now it might as well be. If this deal stands, stackoverflow and others might get similar deals.

So again it's vital to get information wherever we can get it - as long as we still can - and make information self-hosted again.
