@aragubas could've been on the 3DS since it had infrared. would've loved going to best buy with a 3DS and turning off all the display TVs

@4caddit @Jo They used to sell a keychain that was a universal remote with one button: “Off.” It cycled through the signals for all the most popular TV brands.

@Jo @4caddit @jsit yeah we have one but I don't know where it is

I think it was called TV B Gone

ManMachine

@jsit @4caddit @Jo Flipper Zero does the same out of the box. Very handy.

@4caddit I saw this screenshot on Twitter and this is what I replied with.

A tweet depicting a person using a Wii U gamepad to turn off TVs while driving at night. The text overlay says, "Riding Around Turning Off Everyone TV." The tweet has various interactions including likes, retweets, and comments. I replied with “That’s not how it works.”
A Twitter conversation about using the Wii U gamepad as a TV remote.

SupaJota: Does that actually work

Jaffer: You would need to bring the console itself and figure out which TV brand the person has and see if it works.

ben ✨: Unless I'm misremembering the TV remote was like the one thing the gamepad could do without the console being turned on

Jaffer: Yes, you are correct, but to change the brand, you need to turn on the Wii U. Not all neighbors will have the same TV.
