Have you ever wondered how many strands are in one of these tat shop fibre optic wands?

526. There are 526 individual strands.

The wand has now had each strand of fibre individually threaded through a hole in a jig of some sort.

I guessed 512 or under, annoyingly.

I’ll have to rethread it and put the 14 extra around the edge.

A fuzzy closeup of the business end of 526 cheap plastic fibres. 14 of them are glowing (because I’m shining a torch on the other end). They’re in a cluster with a couple of outliers.

Nothing like Kapton tape to make you feel like you're doing Technology.

A bundle of optical fibres; tightly clustered in a circle at one end, separated into two rectangular grids at the other. The strands are capped off with lengths of yellow tape.

I encapsulated the ends without breaking too many. Now I just need to pixel map them.
