people have been asking us for printed posters FOREVER but I've always been unsatisfied with just printing out the existing PDFs of our posters -- they didn't feel quite polished enough to me.

So I collaborated with the incredible Tanya at Inner Loop Press (check out their website! it's so good! innerloop.press/) to make this delightful risograph printed Debugging Manifesto poster. I love the design she came with SO MUCH.

they're not available just yet but they'll be on the store soon!

@b0rk My desk is slowly becoming a shrine to your work 💜 I cannot wait to add this when it’s available!

@savinola @b0rk

I give a lot of talks/presentations to CS college students. Most of them end with me directing them to @b0rk ‘s websites (both jvns.ca and wizardzines.com). I hope i’ve had a hand in helping a few more people benefit from your work. Much respect.

This is awesome! At every step on the poster I nod and say 'yip, truth'.

@b0rk if I still taught college this would be going on the wall of my office

@b0rk eyeballing this HARD for when I can buy one to hang up at my office!

@b0rk if I still worked somewhere with an office, I would totally buy some of these to hang around the kitchen!

@b0rk Top left - Chesterton's fence. You can't say that you fixed a bug until you have some idea how and why it was introducted in the first place. If not, remain nervous.

@b0rk So. Much. This.

Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, follow this manifesto when debugging.

It's almost always a great story, and worth documenting the story in whatever tool you use to track defects.

Do NOT waste this opportunity to model good debugging skills and vulnerability for less experienced devs in your organization.

Don't grandstand when you figure it out, but tell the story openly and acknowledge your teams efforts in any assistance.

Be kind to others.

@b0rk lol a couple past lives ago I was tasked to evangelize a whole new tech stack and I made posters like this for service discovery and client side load balancing and I had them posted on the inside of office bathroom stalls at all office locstions

@b0rk
The checkout spinner's been spinning for the last several minutes. I hope that's a sign of lots of folks on the site!

@b0rk I want to purchase one of these as soon as they are available. I hope I happen to check Mastodon when you announce it

@b0rk The color scheme might clash with the rest of the room, but I love the idea.

@b0rk I was wondering if this was Risograph, or something similar, because it feels so perfect for that. Awesome.

@b0rk For me personally, this is missing step 0: Take a shower, take a walk, have a cup of tea, take a nap.
Can be combined in any subset or order, as long as it gets you away from the machine for ten minutes.
