Seeing a lot of hero-worship for NVIDIA's CEO on social media. It's pretty impressive how, after 30 years as CEO, he suddenly got really good at it in 2023.

NIVIDIA's stock price over the last 5 years, show a dramatic rise that just happens to coincide with the Gen AI bubble.

And AMD's CEO suddenly got really good at her job at around the same time. You'll note in the longer-term trend that the ramp-ups began at around the same time OpenAI was formed.

But they're not the only ones whose management suddenly got super-capable around the same time

Microsoft stock price over the last 35+ years, showing a sudden ramp-up at around the same time as NVIDIA and AMD

Google, Meta etc... same trend. They all suddenly got super-capable leadership around 2016-17. Did they all go on the same CEO course? We may never know.

But it's totally down to skill, and not a massive grift that began in 2016. I can assure you of that.
