Looks like you can get your very own copy of this on Les Enluminures for only… $ 55,000 Alas, I might have to give this one a pass. Even searching the couch for change and returning bottles, I'm about $ 54,994 short. @xuxxux It's essentially just a gimmick produced by the weaving company. You used to be able to buy (in the 90s) little woven postcards of Jacquard himself, based on this large woven portrait from 1839 https://www.historyofinformation.com/detail.php?id=1888 This book was publicly revealed at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris, which was also famous for something called the Tour Eiffel, whatever that was… |
