Martin Axiomer

@nealcurtis For them it is the difference between being bullied and bullying.

Personne

@nealcurtis Because they're the ones running the .com and are exempt from scrutiny.

firebreathingduck

@nealcurtis (pointless rant, sorry)
Libertarians: we need to remove government regulation so the free market ushers in utopia!
Free market oligarchs: Let's buy legislators like beanie babies and bleed the public dry!
Libertarians: That's not a true free market!

Yeah guys, except that's what happens *every* *time*.

@nealcurtis Seeing my dad, who is a huge paranoid about the government tracking you and stuff (and that's legit), become a Tesla owner is a trip. At least the government has theoretical oversight and barriers to keep it from just grabbing all the data your car is tracking right now. There's just NONE against the company, and the kicker: They can sell that data to the government and it's all legal and shit. You gave it away.

Not a libertarian though.

DELETED

@nealcurtis If you stuck many tyranny.com's inside each other then you get tyranny.gov.

Nihil Curits

@phantasus That is exactly where we are heading, unfortunately.

DELETED

@nealcurtis That's a re-introduction of monarchies. But different. Monarchs had "blue blood" and were "sent by god". These will be "had earned his place by hard work" and "is a defender of freedom", etc.

Growlph Ibex

@nealcurtis @philpem This is honestly the most concise and effective summary I've ever seen of that philosophy's end state.

Will

@nealcurtis Libertarians prefer having us all owned by a corporation, while crying about gov’t tyranny.
