(Je fais du coaching)  @mjj I've officially reached the point where I seek out blogs posts over quick videos just to avoid the begs for support from the creator :D @mjj let's schedule some meeting to make a video about that issue? I'm already far, far away ;).   I've been subjected to Mandatory Corporate Videos with skipping and seeking (even rewind & replay!) disabled. I read the transcript and play them at the fastest speed that the player supports -- and mute my speakers. 💢  Lots of how to videos, that should be blog posts. But somehow I think Google has decided to push their videos above the blog posts to make them more visible. Those Google bastards!  @mjj Maybe I have a poor attention span but, generally speaking, I'd rather run a video in the background than read a blog post. It allows me to multitask. @mjj Couldn't you like, not watch the video? Or are we talking about cooperations doing more things in video, with no speed controls and mandatory watching? I've been subjected to that recently. (But they didn't disable the speed controls. And they have no way to disable my volume control / muting! 💢 )  @mjj Anytime I’m asked to watch a video for something, I assume I’m being manipulated. That’s the only reason to choose that format. I've been through so many meetings that should have been a text message. (... or just a few text messages.) 🙄 @mjj 💯. The other day I wanted a quick answer so I asked Google, and no matter how I rephrased it, it kept insisting on showing me a YouTube video as the result. 😡 But the really annoying thing was I kept trying to leave feedback, but in all the "here's why this wasn't a good answer" choices, NOT ONE of them was "I want text not a video" (and "other" just exits - thank you for your feedback!) 🤬  @mjj I turn off the sound and turn on closed captions. I'm not a big fan of video. If people published a transcript I'd go for that. Takes less time for me to read than listen.   @mjj especially with software how-tos... most times I know most of the steps and get hung up on the 8th step of a 10 step process for something, I despise having to scroll through a video to get to the right step. Much rather be able to skim a post! |
@mjj I hate to be asked to watch full-hour videos for content I could've located and processed within five minutes it it had been an article.
