Audio nerds, tell me what you think is the absolute best mixed and mastered album.
I think it's Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the Night. It just sounds like money. Every instrument has its neat little place in the spectrum, and there's a real airyness to the whole thing.
(* note: I know full well that mixing and mastering is only one aspect that makes an album good. There are many albums that make up for less that stellar mixing with amazing songwriting and performance. I'm just curious about this one aspect today.)
@sixohsix I think this is a tough question because mastering is less of a gradient. It's more of a threshold. Beyond a certain point it sounds awful, after a certain point it sounds good, it's hard to grade by this.
