The Privacy-Anonymity Spectrum

The Normie: Doesn't care about privacy. Blissfully ignorant of big tech surveillance and data collection.
- Uses Google and Microsoft services
- Shares everything on Facebook and Instagram
- Password protects phone and computer
- Maybe uses a password manager
- Uses 2FA
- "I have nothing to hide"

Privacy-concious: Doesn't want personal data or messages being collected by corporations.
- Uses hardened Firefox or Brave instead of Chrome or Edge
- Uses DuckDuckGo instead of Google
- Uses ProtonMail instead of Outlook
- Uses Linux over Windows or MacOS
- Doesn't use social media much
- Tries to convince friends to use Signal 
- "I have nothing to hide, but I also have nothing I want to share with you."

The Activist: Wants the government to know as little as possible about their online life. Almost never uses their real name online.
- Uses Tor
- Uses an email service that collects no personal info and PGP-encrypts email
- Never uses social media under real name
- Uses Monero or cash to pay for things anonymously
- Only uses Signal
- Uses a fake name when possible
- Uses a custom Android ROM
- 'Privacy is a function of liberty."

The Ghost: Wanted by the alphabet boys. Tries to be fully anonymous and lives a nomadic lifestyle.
- Doesn't use email
- Works for themselves or not at all
- Uses electronics as little as possible
- Everything is under an anonymous LLC
- Consulting experts and lawyers, not random YouTube videos about privacy
