So . I actually liked it. The actors give good performances. I would love to see Dakota Johnson in more stuff, she's great.

Now yes, this is begging for a franchise. It brings the down. But I would love for a version with less of that stuff. Stunts were great. I loved how the seeing-the-future was used here. There was good-to-decent (always enjoyable) char work. Props.

I had fun. Would love more without the franchising.

Some of the "spider and tribe in a far off land giving special stuff" felt a bit too easy. Like the tribe didnt want anything in return? Or they are just very giving, without any complication?

I think my favorite thing is the work the script & actors put in these chars. The teenagers feel like teens. Cassy has some real hangs ups. You can feel the care that develops, but doesnt come easy.

I have to say, some real care went into this movie. It really shines in places. I can fell the effort. As a stand alone movie, when it doesnt get too super-hero-y, it is a treat.

It unfortunately gets pulled down by the parts that are "if we can do more movies, we can do such good superhero. I swear." That pulled me out. But I was pulled back in by these actors and chars.

And that is not to say I *dont* want a sequel or more about these characters. BUT, i do hate the undignified begging that happens here. The same kind of begging Sony has been doing for years. Not a good look. Not enjoyable. Just let it happen. This is not how it works. You dont have to beg, you just have to do it right.
