 I have some #GenZ coworkers and was telling them about how we used to take our car stereo face plates with us when we left the car back in the days when stereos weren't integrated into the dash and you wanted a nice one. They were very amazed. So I made this meme. 8 comments
@etchlings haha! Back in the 90s, car stereo thefts were huge! It was just too easy to pop a screwdriver into the slot and yank out a stereo. @renwillis Oh yeah, I definitely had some acquaintances whose radios were stolen during a break-in. When itβs so easy, not surprised so many did. For me, it wasnβt even a nice stereo. It just had a cd player and Bluetooth, which the stock 1992 Volvo HU certainly didnt have. @renwillis These yoots today; spoiled with options (except now the factory stereo is gonna be the only useful option because thereβs so much software baked in that aftermarkets wonβt have the features you need and the integration with car systems) @renwillis Never had a car stereo like that, but I sure do remember those days. @renwillis Or if you were lazy like me, pop it off, throw it in your glove box or arm rest, and hope that any thieves would be too dumb to check there. |

@renwillis I absolutely had an aftermarket one in my 240 that had this feature. I donβt think I once used it, though. It was a 240. No one was gonna try and boost that.
