git's ui is fine, it just tends to be people's first interaction with a shell

imo the far worse offender is ssh-keygen

there is not an amount of sanding off you can do to a cli tool that will cause people to look up the command you have to use to inspect the state

and so people start using things like github desktop, which literally lies to you about the state of the system

they then use tools like this to cause major spaghetti messes, which then i have to clean up with the cli, and they blame the cli for it

shells have a ui problem (i would know, read my thesis), but they are still the best tool we have. they just require training, which the corps y'all work for are too cheap to provide

they would literally rather you ask chatgpt what magic commands to type into the command line than pay for like a 2-week training course

in conclusion, the way to fix git's ui problem is to unionize your workplace
