Ah Mastodon, it never fails. Whenever I point out somewhere else to follow or join, there's *always* replies telling me how much they don't want it or don't want to see it.

@gamingonlinux Maybe you should tell them: it is called internet for a reason ;-) ... @gamingonlinux pretty sure that's just social media in general, it's why for profit sm always looks for drama to ensure engagement and why mastodon is now the only platform I have an active account on. @gamingonlinux I'm a selective but consistent muter. When people are arrogantly and willfully ignorant is a prime reason for me haha. It's fine if I don't see eye to eye, but when someone is also an arsehole I'm the quickest draw in the West. @gamingonlinux …that’s not Mastodon…that’s just people. You’re just here and there is a higher opinionated geek-per-capita here as well. @gamingonlinux To be completely honest, I don't really get how or why your experience is like this. It's truly a pity. Most people I've seen here on Fedi are really cool and polite. While I agree that Discord has become kind of a shitshow over the years, I don't think that I have to remind everybody like this. Then again, I still use it, so maybe I'm biased. @gamingonlinux stupid article writers and their stupid opinions. stop telling me what i can and cant read! im angry! /s @gamingonlinux to be fair they have a point: you can be annoyed and still scroll past -- people have to scroll past paid advertisements on other social media all the time, and people come to Mastodon to not have to see them at all. FWIW I've never felt like your links to follow other places were intrusive though. @gamingonlinux it's not Mastodon, I think it's the tech community in general. What you are describing is exactly why I've grown my audiences separate from my tech channel. "I don't want to see it!" Then.. doing fucking look at it? Idk, people need to grow up. |
It's like when people get annoyed about me covering something in an article: not clicking it is free, scrolling past it is free, but nope - just gotta get it out how much you don't want it huh.
