Helldivers 2 is getting review-bombed on Steam due to this incoming change.

@gamingonlinux if that isn't a clear stand from the community then what is. Hopefully it will also ring a bell in whatever exec. from Sony enforced this.

@gamingonlinux I don't understand why so many people are upset with this, it's not like you have to pay for the online, it's just an account

To be devil's advocate: the Steam page always clearly noted a PSN account was required.

@gamingonlinux I'm pretty sure I already signed into my PSN account for Helldivers, but man is "PC game requires console account" the weirdest possible monkey's paw of crossplay.

@gamingonlinux question is, why did they sell it in countries where you can't GET a PSN account?

@gamingonlinux
well to be fair it is a pretty unpopular change as a lot of Steam gamers do not have a playstation.
They've got an authentication method already using the steam account.
But I can imagine that it would make it far more easier if they all used the same authentication method from the backend.

In any case as with every other online game, it is very important to have the ability to self host.

@gamingonlinux This seems like a rational response. This move is very "ensh!+ification" and I stand by the community. For <actual> Democracy!

@gamingonlinux Thatโ€™s a bummer.
I havenโ€™t used my PSN account since the Vita was relevant. Itโ€™s going to be tricky for me to figure out what my account was.

@gamingonlinux I remember being skeptical about this game because of Sony. Turns out, my gut didn't lie to me: I live in a country that's not on the list for signing up. Now I either have to lie and risk getting banned or just give up on playing the game altogether. Both options suck. :(

@gamingonlinux A game glorifiying fascism pulls a fascist tactic??
