@denny It's not 'spyware' guys, it's just 'surprise surveillance'.

@denny when the most commonly used end-user operating system is spyware you're only left with the options of "burn it all to the ground" or just be okay with being constantly spied on I guess.

@elexia @denny I can top that. Remember the Intel Management Engine in our CPUs? And the Snowden leaks? ๐Ÿ˜

(I mean seriously, where else could that mic/cam backdoor possibly be to affect basically any device even when "turned off"?)

@denny i miss the old days when you could choose which spyware you wanted on your computer ๐Ÿ˜”

Kinda like location data: friends used to ask me why I didn't disable it in my phone, I always responded, "telco's still gonna collect and sell it, at least if I leave it on, I can use my data for my own benefit".

@denny they're not spying, they're just accessing the data we're "sharing" with them.

@denny Back in the days it was just our grandparents who installed some fly-by-night spyware because they weren't that young anymore and the internet confused the hell out of them. Today, everyone does it happily themselves and pats their own back for it.

@shaedrich @denny They then open it and log in to some network known to surveil and do illegal stuff even if that could count as war crime to complain about people who tell them not to do any of this.
