@Mastodon Have you received your tax-exempt determination from IRS? The blog post is written as if you have, but IRS online data doesn't yet show that. The corporation name listed in the blog post and IRS search also doesn't match the incorporated name on file with the State of New York...

@Mastodon Having the same foundation steward Mastodon itself AND host mastodon.social sounds like such a huge conflict of interests.

IMHO, mastodon.social should be maintained as a separate endeavour, much like any other instance out there.

@Mastodon Have you considered applying for a 'foreign ANBI'-status in The Netherlands? This offers tax advantages within Europe. The Wikimedia Foundation, for instance, also is an ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation).

Perhaps if Mastodon agreed not to arbitrarily suspend the accounts of general election candidates, during elections here in the UK, then the Electoral Commission might agree to promote Mastodon.
